Fall Fun

Fall is our favorite season. We took last week to do some fun fall activities.

First we visited the woods and collected some leaves.
We used the leaves that we gathered in the woods to make this craft--a fall banner.
Then we made a delicious gingerbread loaf.
You have to lick the batter!
We all shared our gingerbread and read fall poems.

Aquarium

We took a trip to the Oklahoma Aquarium the other day with our friends, the Fosters. I love our aquarium! There are new exhibits each time we visit.
There are lots of hands-on exhibits. The kids love that!

Here are some horseshoe crabs.
Lydia got to pet the crab.
They also got to pet starfish.
The octopus is my favorite. He was very active this day.
There was a new exhibit (I think about the Ozarks). It had beavers, otters, and raccoons.
Probably the highlight of the day was getting to touch the rays and sharks.
We happened to be at every exhibit at the right time. We got to see archer fish, electric eels, piranhas, and moray eels be fed. We also got to see divers go into the big tank to feed and clean.
We had a wonderful time.

School Days

Ty is now in the 4th grade. His favorite subject is Latin, he also enjoys Math. Outside of school, he is really, really into Bionicles. Here is a paper he wrote for school about Bionicles.

Preview

This is a preview of the new movie coming out, Bionicle: The Legend Reborn.

Ackar is fighting Strakk, and Strakk loses his shield! He won’t give up. Ackar blocks with his sword …… and delivers a winning blow with his shield! “Yield to me, and this goes no further.”

“Alright, you win,” says Strakk.

Ackar sighed and said, “you leave with your honor intact, and I with your shield. Victory!”

With Ackar’s back turned, Strakk gets up and readies his sword and hurls it!

“Watch out!!” shouted one of the Agori villagers from Vulcanus.

Ackar turns around and blocks but it still flings him. He hits a rock and Strakk wins!

I’m really looking forward to seeing the new movie!

Fun at the Park

Nice!

Ty has been learning how to use sarcasm. His favorite word is, "Nice!" to describe things that aren't nice, or good, or things that are just plain annoying. So I say these shoes are, "Nice!", all muddied up. But the smile is truly nice, so it makes up for the muddy shoes. :)

Learning to Skate

Lydia has been really interested in skateboarding lately. These pictures aren't the greatest because it was dark out, but here they are.

Road Trip

The kids and I took a trip to Oklahoma City last month. We were headed to the Science Museum and the brand new Lego Store.
Well, we took a wrong turn, once in the city, and got a little lost. I exited the highway and got back on a few times, then decided I better pull in to the Bass Pro Shop and ask for directions. We were further off coarse than I thought. The helpful man at the Bass Pro Shop gave us instructions to take the scenic route to the mall, but at least we got to go past the Capitol Building. I hadn't ever seen it before. Here is my picture, while trying to drive, it's tiny, I know.
Here's a better one.
An hour after we had planned to, we finally arrived at the mall to visit the brand new Lego Store. Ty brought his money, ready to spend. You see here he is thrilled...he wanted to make sure I got his purchase in the picture (see the yellow bag).
Next, on to the museum. The kids got to ride Segways...
Check out cool weather stuff...here they are in a wind capsule (I think the wind was up to 70 MPH here when they had enough.)
Getting to try out a blue screen, like a weather man...
On the back of a train...
And some cool planes...
Kid's area. Build a car out of Legos and race against other Lego cars, see which design goes fastest.
All in all, despite getting lost, we had a great time. There was so much to see at the museum, we didn't get to see it all in one day.
