The following is an email exchange I had with my son.  He was watching a movie.  I was packing our suitcase for vacation.

Ty to Me - 

How are you doing?




Me - 
I'm doing great!  Are you enjoying HP-POA? [Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban]




Ty - 
Yup, why are you not watching it?

Me -  
Because I'm packing your undies!  [Literally packing for vacation, but I was making a reference to How To Train Your Dragon.]

Ty - 
Hardy, hardy, har!

Me -
I laughed out loud, I'm sure you heard me, but I refuse to type el oh el (see I didn't even type it just then!).

Ty - 
Why don't you want to type "LOL"?

Me -
You know how I feel about that.

Ty - 
 No, I don't really know how you feel. How do you feel about it?




Me - 
You know dad and I think it's silly how people use "text" language, all the acronyms for things.  Does it really save you that much time in your day, to conserve a few precious letters in the verbiage of your electronic correspondence?  Notice that I chose to use the full words for this electronic mail.




Ty - 
Yes it does.

Easter Eggs

We went for a different look this year.  We tried to paint these eggs to look like real birds.

Here is the American Goldfinch,

the Eastern Bluebird,

Red-Tailed Hawk (although, he sitting on his red tail feathers),

Carolina Chickadee,

Rose-Breasted Grosbeak,

Northern Flicker (the paint ran),

Blue Jay,

Cardinal,

and these guys--meaning I was tired of painting eggs.  :)

Funny

Last night, we were going to stop by Panera to pick up some Cinnamon Crunch bagels for Ty's Sunday breakfast.  Partly, this was a treat he wanted, partly, he needed to have a quick breakfast as he had an early Boy Scout obligation.  I wasn't sure if Lydia wanted a bagel, too, or if she would like something I would make homemade.

Me:  "Lydia, would you rather have a bagel, or something I will make?  I'm going to try something new--that puffed-up pancake we saw online the other day."

Lydia:  "Definitely a bagel!" with a look of disdain, obviously for my attempt at making something new.  :/

Me:  "Well, thanks (read as sarcasm) for that vote of confidence!"

So, this morning, I whipped up a Dutch Baby (or German pancake, or puff pancake) for myself.

I topped it with sauteed apple slices, cinnamon, and sugar.

It was SO delicious!

I told Lydia she was missing out.

Me:  "You're really missing out!  This is awesome!"


Lydia:  "Well, you like lasagna, and I don't.  I have different taste buds than you.  That probably tastes like cake to you, but it would taste like fried onions to me."

She cracks me up!

Mmm, fried onions sound good right now.  :)

Ty's Magic

Vacation

Disney World, Florida, here we come!

Ty and Lydia excitedly waiting to board the plane, just a bit before sunrise.  This was Ty's second plane trip, and Lydia's first.  She loved it, he did not.

Keeping busy on the plane.  Lydia got the window seat for every flight.  She loved to see that we were above the clouds.

Our cool hotel.  We stayed at the Pop Century.  It has buildings themed 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.  We were in the 80s building, so you can see iconic 80s things here, such as a rubik's cube (for our stairwell), walkman (it was huge! notice how tiny Ty and Lydia are in the pic--top left), bigwheel, Pacman, and more.

Taking a boat ride to our restaurant for dinner.  We ate at 'Ohana at the Polynesian resort the first night.  It was a Polynesian feast, and oh so delicious!

Thus ended our travel day.  The real fun begins the next day...

Favorites:
Ty - Aerosmith Rock 'N Rollercoaster
Lydia - my comfy cozy stroller (Ty wishes he could have ridden in one, too).

Least favorite:
Lydia - Splash Mountain
Ty - Waiting in line (the lines really weren't long), being hot (it was around 80°), and walking.

Favorite food:
Ty - hamburgers
Lydia - hot dogs, of course!

Favorite character:
Ty - Piglet
Lydia - Meeko, because he tickled me.

Rides:
Soarin' - Lydia said, "It was awesome!"  I agree.  Her and I went on it twice.
Test Track - Shane and Ty went on this one twice.  Ty loved it.
Star Tours - I really like the simulator rides.  The kids and I went on this one twice, it was that fun.  Ty liked this one better than Soarin'.
Haunted Mansion - none of us liked this one.  Not as tame as I've heard it was.
Space Mountain - I don't like rollercoasters, but Ty thought this one was tame enough that I would like it.  So I went with him.  He was wrong.  Ty loved it SO much, he rode it 4 times in one day.
